Described as a "true design masterpiece", this 1928 luxury sports vehicle holds the admiration of any car lover

A CLASSIC 1928 Mercedes-Benz is set to sell for a whopping £7 million.
Described as a "true design masterpiece", the 90-year-old 680S Torpedo-Sport Avant-Garde is in immaculate condition, and is fitted with some of the most luxury features of its time.
The vintage car even comes kitted out with genuine lizard skin seats, as well as a disappearing convertible top, intricate wood features, polished German silver trim and a low windshield.
Fitted with a six-cylinder, supercharged engine, the car has a four-speed manual transmission and is the only known remaining model of the vehicle with the short windshield.
Originally ordered in 1927 by Charles Levine, the first passenger on a Transatlantic flight, its delivery was cancelled after Levine was sued by the US government for almost US$500,000 (£403,000 in today's conversion) in unpaid taxes.

The sports car was then picked up by oil company director Frederick Bedford Jnr after being displayed at the New York Motor Show in 1929 .
Bedford allegedly used the car's luxurious appeal to help him woo his wife, who abandoned her date in favour of a ride in the classy motor after the pair met at party.
