Iconic car brand to bring back hybrid SUV with 124-mile EV range nearly a DECADE after it was axed
ICONIC car brand announces the return of an old model nearly ten years after it was discontinued.
The Volvo XC70 is coming back with a bang after being discontinued in 2016.
This time round the off-road variant of the V70, the XC70, is not being modelled as a wagon but as an SUV.
The new model will be slightly larger and offer more space than the similar XC60.
Volvo has claimed the new plug-in hybrid will have an impressive 124 mile range using electric power alone.
The new XC70 will support "fast charging capabilities" being built on Volvo's Scalable Modular Architecture.

Not much is being shared about the return of the discontinued model.
Volvo has stated that the new model will be a versatile family car "ready for all kinds of adventures."
The new XC70 was previewed for the first time yesterday, May 7, ahead of planned reveals and launches in the coming months.
Currently the revived model is being targeted to meet the demand for long range plug-in hybrids in the Chinese market.

However Volvo have hinted that the revived model could soon be making its way into other markets.
Aside from the predicted 124 mile range on electric power, technical data on the new model is limited.
It will incorporate design elements from other iconic Volvo models including the all electric EX90.
Volvo fan's favourite "Thor's hammer LEDs" will be the dominant feature of the front end of the revived model.
A large blacked-out grill with active shutters will also draw attention to the front end of the new model.
C-shaped rear lights will be integrated into the glass of the rear window.
The new design is slightly sleeker than the than the larger model XC90.
More details about the revived XC70 will be revealed in the coming months.
