Body found in search for GP, 44, who vanished nine days ago after making 111-mile drive

A BODY has been found in the search for a missing GP who vanished nine days ago after making an 111-mile trip.
Dr Zakariya Uddin, from Euxton, Lancashire, was last seen in the Chorley area on Monday, May 12.
Cleveland Police believed the 44-year-old had later travelled a long way to Middlesbrough by car.
Dr Uddin's dark purple Volkswagen Touran was discovered in Glenside on Wednesday after a major search.
Cops have now confirmed a body has been found, but is yet to be formally identified.
Dr Uddin's family have been informed of the discovery and are being supported be specialist officers.

Cleveland Police are not treating the death as suspicious at this time.
A spokesperson for the force said: "Officers searching for missing 44-year-old Zakariya Waqar-Uddin sadly found the body of a man earlier today.
"Whilst the man has not yet been formally identified, Zakariya’s family have been informed and our thoughts remain with them during this difficult time.
"The death is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

Dr Uddin grew up in Euxton and was appointed a full time GP at the Surgery in Chorley in 2021.
He has also worked as a GP at Buckshaw Village Medical Group and Standish Medical Practice.
