Harry demanded charity boss ‘explain herself’ in ‘unpleasant’ note after she refused to defend Meghan over polo spat

PRINCE Harry fired off an unpleasant and arrogant message to the head of his charity after she refused to publicly defend his wife Meghan over a viral video, sources claimed yesterday.
Excruciating footage from a polo fundraiser appeared to show Meghan directing Sentebale chairwoman Dr Sophie Chandauka away from the Prince during a prizegiving.
As speculation swirled online about tension between the two women, Dr Chandauka refused requests from Harry’s team to issue a public statement in support of Meghan.
Insiders say the Duke of Sussex then sent her a message demanding she “explain herself”.
The wording was said to be “unpleasant” and featured “imperious” language, which apparently stunned the Zimbabwean-born lawyer.
She had previously claimed Harry caused chaos for the event’s organisers after demanding a Netflix camera crew turn up to film for his show Polo, which flopped.
The venue had to be changed at short notice as a result.
Meghan was then accused of arriving unannounced with tennis legend Serena Williams at the rearranged event in Florida last April.
In an awkward scene on stage in front of photographers, Dr Chandauka was forced to duck under the trophy after Meghan appeared to demand she did not stand next to Harry.
It is understood the relationship between Harry and Dr Chandauka — who had arrived at the charity the year before — then deteriorated.
A full-blown row has now broken out into the open after Harry last week quit the Lesotho-based HIV and Aids charity he co-founded in 2006.
He said in a statement that relations between the board and chairwoman were broken “beyond repair”.
Dr Chandauka then furiously accused Harry of bullying and harassment, and said donations to the charity had fallen since he and Meghan quit as working royals, as their brand was now “toxic”.
Meghan has previously been accused of bullying Palace staff before moving to the US.
A former aide raised concerns in 2018, saying she had “bullied two PAs out of the household”.
Buckingham Palace launched an investigation into the claims but the report has never been released.
Meghan denies the allegations.
Harry is famously reported to have said “What Meghan wants, Meghan gets” in a row with the late Queen’s dresser Angela Kelly over the choice of tiara at their 2018 wedding.
Last year, a former employee called her a “dictator in high heels” who “terrified” her staff.
A spokesman for Prince Harry was approached to comment on the latest claims.
In an exclusive interview with Nick Ede, Jonathan Rose reports:
Prince Harry's charity row proves he and Meghan Markle are "hypocrites", an expert has claimed.
It comes after the head of a charity founded by the Duke of Sussex, 40, accused him of trying to "eject" her through "bullying" and "harassment".
Harry announced on Tuesday that he and several trustees had quit Sentebale, the charity he set up with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in 2006, amid a boardroom battle within the organisation.
Sophie Chandauka has been chairwoman of Sentebale since 2023.
She accused the duke of being "involved" in a "cover-up" of an investigation about bullying, harassment and misogyny at the organisation.
Ms Chandauka also said the "toxicity" of his "brand" had impacted the charity.
