Nottingham Forest vs Man City LIVE RESULT: Lewis and Gvardiol fire Pep’s side to blockbuster FA Cup final against Palace

MANCHESTER CITY have booked their spot in this year's FA Cup final where they will take on London outfit Crystal Palace!

Nottingham Forest fell behind inside TWO minutes courtesy of a sublime strike by Man City teen Rico Lewis.

And Josko Gvardiol rose highest before heading in City's second shortly after the interval.

JOSKO GVARDIOL with a thumping header puts City two-up!

Is that in? A goal? A handball? A penalty?

What a sequence of events as City get into the area down the right and Lewis tests Sels from a tight angle.

It comes out and it's worked to Nunes who has his shot saved before Kovacic follows it in with a strike at goal.

It hits a Forest defender and heads for goal where Sels on the retreat somehow kicks it off the line!

    Nothing given, except a corner.

As I mentioned, Forest needed some attacking impetus in the form of Anthony Elanga and Nuno obviously thought the same thing.

    Always nice when that happens...

Elanga's introduction has almost immediately paid off, as he sprinted into the middle from the right-hand side to meet an inch perfect Callum Hudson-Odoi cross.

He was only able to poke it inches wide of the near post though, as he clutches at his head in frustration.

Elanga knows what a big chance that was, but it has given life to the heaps of Forest fans behind the goal.

WHAT A CHANCE FOR FOREST - AND ELANGA!

He's been on 40 seconds and Elanga has Forest's first shot of the entire game - and he should've scored!

They work the ball behind City down their left and the cross is fired in low where Elanga makes an inward run from the right and he side-foots it wide from 10 yards.

What a huge moment and opportunity. But it's got the fans in red back off their seats!

  • Back underway!

Elanga replacing Danilo for the second half.

  • Back out

The teams are back out and Elanga is coming on.

Big 45 minutes ahead in the season of these two sides.

  • Forest changes coming

Anthony Elanga was put through a pretty vigorous warm-up during the break and he looks like he'll be coming on for the second half.

They had to change something and Nuno isn't hanging about,

  • Half time stats

3x as many passes for City than Forest as they've enjoyed 75% of the ball in that 45 minutes.

No real surprise, though. That's how Forest want to play and have been successful in doing so.

Still quite damning when you see all those 0s down the left column. Something needs to change!

  • In total control

Man City look so comfortable despite just the one-goal lead.

Having said that, they've not troubled Matz Sels all that much given their dominance in possession.

That early goal knocked the stuffing out of Nuno's side but they've hung in there.

Sadly, they've been completely non-existent in the final third thus far.

Half-time here at Wembley, and it has been largely one-way traffic for the first 45 minutes.

Local City lad Rico Lewis opened the scoring after just two minutes, but that was the highlight as the game has somewhat simmered since then, with the Cityzens looking pretty comfortable.

Pep Guardiola will be more than pleased with what he's seen so far, with Forest needing to get pumped up for a second half in which they need to provide more attacking impetus - perhaps through the introduction of Anthony Elanga.

This game is far from over, and we will bring the second half to you very shortly.

Little sign of how this has gone for Forest as Toffolo has space to run into down the left but tries to cut a pass back towards the halfway line instead.

They just haven't sorted the transition yet, which is their main avenue!

  • 42 – Nottm Forest 0-1 Man City

Rare attack down the left from City and Marmoush has won a promising free kick for a tackle from Abbott.

Forest bring all 10 outfield players back to defend on in a line on their penalty spot.

So no surprise to see one of them win the header and flick it to safety.

A definite switch in the way Forest are pressing and they're certainly higher up the park in doing so.

Most of City's play coming down their right but so far no real big chances created after that opening goal.

  • 36 – Nottm Forest 0-1 Man City

No real change in the direction of traffic as Stefan Ortega remains a spectator.

But Forest are at least seeing a little more of the ball. Helped by their press starting 5-10 yards higher.

  • 33 – Nottm Forest 0-1 Man City

Bit better for Forest who play direct through the middle of the park.

Hudson-Odoi is then slipped in down the right and he slides a pass for Wood in the box but sensational last-ditch defending puts him off and prevents a certain goal.

The flag then does go up but it would've been tight...

Milenkovic covers well when Savinho looked to get into the box in behind the defenders.

The Forest man sees his clearance hit off the winger and go behind for a goal kick, before he waves his hands looking for more from the Forest supporters.

The fans have given so much for over an hour and aren't getting much to shout about from his teammates...

  • 27 – Nottm Forest 0-1 Man City

This would've been one of THEE Wembley goals to remember.

O'Reilly latches onto Gibbs-White and dispossesses him 15 yards inside the Forest half.

His close control and strength is superb to evade two challenges with Maradona-esque footwork before unleashing a rocket of an effort from 25 yards which bounces a couple of yards wide.

  • 24 – Nottm Forest 0-1 Man City

Set piece for Forest this time as they're enjoying a couple of minutes up the park, and a chance to get the big boys up.

It's wide on the left and about 45 yards from goal, when it's clipped into the area for the team in red to attack.

Until, the linesman's flag goes up for offside. Dearie me.

  • Lloyd Canfield at Wembley Stadium

    Forest are slowly settling here.

After what was a chaotic start to say the least, Forest are starting to settle a bit and their fans are reacting accordingly.

The occasion may have been a little large for those players right from the off, but it seems like now they're being a bit more patient on the ball which should pay dividends for them.

It's all going to depend on that final ball now - in my view they're missing Anthony Elanga big time so far, who is on the bench.

  • 22 – Nottm Forest 0-1 Man City

Nearly an opening for Forest for the first time this afternoon.

Anderson did look in an offside position when trying to bundle his way beyond the City defence but the defenders come out on top in any case.

  • 19 – Nottm Forest 0-1 Man City

They don't really deal with that City corner initially and it's only half cleared to Savinho out wide again.

His next delivery is a good one but nobody in sky blue meets it and Sels comes out to claim.

Kovacic is man of the match already. EVERYTHING is going through him and he's already twice won the ball high up the park for City.

Toffolo with an important tackle down his left side but at the expense of a corner.

  • 15 – Nottm Forest 0-1 Man City

Another shot comes in on the Forest goal.

Having said that, it was more at the Forest fans.

Clever one-two between Marmoush and Grealish before the former strikes from 25 yards out but he's a mile off target.

  • 14 - Nottm Forest 0-1 Man City

A rough 14 minutes for Forest to this point.

Although, they've had 1% possession for every minute played so far...

City with 86% possession in the opening quarter of an hour and I'm actually a tough surprised it's not more.
