The series follows Georgia Wells, a widow whose husband Will died in a plane crash on a trip to Africa.
Three years after Will's death, she sees a man resembling her husband on a news story reporting civil unrest in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Suspecting that everything is not what it seems, Georgia travels to Kinshasha to uncover the truth.

The eight-episode series also features multiple storylines and explores themes such as violence and corruption.
Tonight's final will be the aftermath after Georgia finally found out what happened to her husband Will.
Over the course of the series she has been looking for answers and last night (April 29, 2019) Georgia finally found Will alive - and living with his new family.
After numerous twists and turns, Georgia finally located her husband after sneaking into a guarded house in Rwanda.
Georgia - was delighted to see her other half, running to him and smothering him in kisses.
But Will looked far from delighted to see his wife, and told her in the darkened room: "You shouldn't be here."
Confused, she asked: "Who are you afraid of? the man outside?"
But Will told her: "Georgia he works for me, there's a lot you need to know."
Viewers were then shown Will uncovering the smuggling going on at the aid company run by Judith.
In tears, Georgia asked why he had never called her, but Will said he had, but just couldn't speak.
He also explained how he had no passport - having been declared dead - and couldn't get out of the Congo.
Viewers will have to wait until 9pm tonight to see how the show concludes.
What caused the plane crash?
The plane crash in which Will allegedly died was caused by a terrorist attack - he was never on it.
Viewers watched the dramatic scene unfold which showed the plane being bombed.
Survivor Ariel revealed to Beatrix: “I never told anyone about that plane crash. Not a soul. I am scared because nothing you ever hear about that plane crash is true.
“I was on that plane when it went down it wasn’t a mechanical failure, there was a bomb on that plane. It was a woman, a pregnant woman."
Will there be a series 2 of The Widow?
The Widow's execs are yet to confirm if there will be a second season.
And neither producers - Amazon or ITV - have made an official statement as to the fate of the programme in the long run.
Because of the nature of the series, it may be the case that once it is concluded and all the questions are answered, there isn't room to continue with the plot into another series.
Though it remains to be seen and fans will have to wait a little longer before confirmation of a much-wanted second season.

Where was the show filmed?
Despite being set in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, filming predominantly took place in South Africa due to concerns over safety of cast and crew.
Writers Harry and Jack Williams revealed to the Express: "We shot it in Cape Town in South Africa, which is a lovely town but looks nothing like The Congo which you’re not allowed to film in because it’s just too dangerous.
"To make anything in Cape Town, we shot some [scenes] in Durban and some on the East Coast and in South Africa.
"To make any single frame look like The Congo, you have to bring in extras and buildings.
“So it’s a big undertaking and a lot of that was simply trying to build that world and have somewhere unique and hardly ever seen on TV as The Congo.”
And Britain, Wales, and Rotterdam also served as shooting locations for the upcoming show.
